Moritz's rise to the world elite

RAINBOW JERSEY FOR MORITZ AUGENSTEIN

An incredible achievement — a moment for eternity. Last night, he rode the race of his life, claiming the gold medal ahead of Dutch rider Yanne Dorenbos and New Zealander Campbell Stewart.

Moritz has done it — and we couldn’t be prouder of him! That’s Pushbikers Power at its best!
He’s been flying under the radar for so long, right up until now — and he’s the one to bring home the first-ever title for German Cycling.
At the same time, it’s the first German medal in the Scratch since 2015.

“It’s a hellish pace out there,” commented the Eurosport commentators last night.
Moritz rides a tactically brilliant race. Eight laps before the finish, he makes his first big move, taking the lead with Belgian rider Jules Hesters on his wheel.
With three laps to go, Moritz takes the front again, launches a long sprint, and pulls away decisively from his competitors.

“Moritz Augenstein rauscht da durch und gewinnt diesen Wettbewerb über 10 Kilometer und 40 Runden”.

Now it’s: Full gas, Moritz! — as he lines up for tomorrow’s Omnium, and again on Sunday for the final race of the World Championships, the Madison, where he’ll team up with Roger Kluge.
