He may not be particularly tall, but he is strong, he is fast. On the track, Roy doesn’t take any jokes, reaching speeds of up to 70 km/h on the oval.

In his youth, Roy was an ice skater, cycling only as training for speed skating. Until he realised that cycling suited him more and that he enjoyed it more. At the age of 22, he became European U23 Vice Champion on the track for the first time.

He is a multiple Dutch champion in the Omnium and Scratch, achieved bronze twice at European Track Championships (team pursuit, Scratch) and most recently in February 2023 silver in his showpiece discipline Scratch. At the 2022 UCI Track World Championships he won bronze in the scratch.

He has also been convincing on the road in recent years with stage wins at the Tour of Quinghai Lake and the Tour of Xingtai. His greatest successes, he says, always come when he is on the road with a team of friends. By the way, his nickname Super Bock goes back to a Portuguese beer brand – but the Dutch national coach at the time found the name quite suitable for Roy, and so he is now our Pushbikers Super Bock.
