" Having a goal worth fighting for. The chance to discover something new — that’s what motivates me the most. That’s how Pushbikers came to be."

Christian Grasmann, Founder Pushbikers

“Rebel in the velodrome”

This was the headline of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung in winter 2016, referring to Pushbikers founder Christian Grasmann. For years, he was considered one of the most enigmatic figures on the six-day scene. He spent 18 seasons on the winter tracks. If there was a list of six-day pros, he would have to be at the top.

He was not interested in being in the front row himself. As a career changer in professional cycling, he spent a lot of time practicing, trying things out and climbing the ranks again and again. After being unable to find his place in existing structures, he wanted one thing above all: to think differently about this sport, to make it cool, so that it could be practiced with joy, conviction and self-determination.

Visions for cycling

We started with our own cycling club and the first checkered race jersey, created with Maloja. A small elite team followed, racing summer criteriums and winter six-day track events. Our “rebel” crew grew bigger and more international. By the time they had won the Revolution track series in England twice and achieved numerous six-day podiums, the Pushbikers had established themselves as a track team in the top league.

Defining our own ambitions and inspiring as many people as possible to embrace cycling — that has always been the goal of Pushbikers. A path off the beaten track, seeking and finding opportunities: from the elite racing team of the early years to a UCI Continental Pro Team. From our own youth development team, the Maloja Pushbikers Future Stars, to the women’s squad (Maloja Pushbikers Fem) and the MTB pro team (Maloja Pushbikers MTB), the Pushbikers have developed a multifaceted vision for the sport of cycling.

That's our driving force.

Overarching: from professional cycling to the community. We share values that unite us and that we stand behind with pride.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE.

We love and live cycling and want to help build the future of this sport.

COMMUNITY.

We create a sense of belonging in a community that feels deeply connected.

PASSION.

We share a passion, bring enthusiasm to life and leave behind meaningful emotions.

JOY.

We create unique experiences. We live in the moment and inspire dreams.

RESPECT.

We act respectfully, love difference, live equality and value diversity.

This moment is yours.

Providing a platform, being a magnet, welcoming others. The magic of cycling lies in the community. For over five years, you can have a place where we feel at home, the Pushbikers store, which is the heart of the Pushbikers project as a cycling hub. The space where everything comes together. Where we meet people: for weekly community rides, for events, for coffee. And to keep building individual bikes for the next big adventure.

Cycling know-how that can be felt in every detail.

It’s the expertise gained from many years of professional cycling combined with an absolute passion for technical details that Christian brings to the Pushbikers context: working together, step by step, towards optimized, tiny, millimeter-precise improvements — because these are exactly what make the difference nowadays.

The beginning

Christian Grasmann founds his own cycling club in Upper Bavaria. From 2010, the first elite racing team is formed, whose riders are active in criterium races in summer and international six-day races in winter. From then on, he develops his own, annually redesigned jerseys in collaboration with the Chiemgau-based brand Maloja, which become the “distinguishing feature” of the team, which is known as the Maloja Pushbikers from 2014.

On Track

The race track is the home of the Pushbikers. Christian Grasmann and Leif Lampater, later joined by Marcel Kalz, Robert Bengsch, Nico Heßlich and Andreas Graf, are successful in international six-day races. In the British Revolution Cycling Series, they are the only non-British team to ride alongside well-known teams such as Sky, Rapha Condor JLT and riders such as Ed Clancy, Mark Cavendish, Geraint Thomas and Ollie Wood, twice winning the overall victory in the prestigious series. This was followed by victories and podium finishes in Australia at the Melbourne and Bendigo Madison as well as European Championship and Olympic participations.

Founding Pushbikers

The idea for the name Pushbikers was born on an airplane. An Australian passenger told him about his “pushbike” – a word that Christian Grasmann had never heard before and which stuck with him. He discovered the “Pushbike song” from 1971 and so it wasn’t long before he decided to call his own team the Pushbikers. Maloja became the new name sponsor, and from then on we were the Maloja Pushbikers.

1st pro race team

Our first UCI Continental road team WSA Pushbikers was founded as a cooperation with the Austrian team WSA. This collaboration made it possible to combine the expertise of two teams and to be active in both road and track cycling. In 2018, the team competed in the team time trial at the Innsbruck-Tyrol Road World Championships. The road team raced in the UCI Europe Tour under the direction of DS Christoph Resl, while the track riders competed in national championships, European Championships, Sixdays and international track events. The Pushbikers also excelled in criteriums, for example with victories at the Mixed Bear European Championships and the Red Hook race series.

Pushbikers Shop

Opening of our first store in Holzkirchen with an area of approx. 60 square meters. A place for all cycling enthusiasts where we offered team equipment for sale and were able to share our knowledge and ideas at events for the first time. The first, irregular social rides were launched here. At the beginning of 2022, the Pushbikers store moved just a few hundred meters further into a flat 1960s building, which (quite appropriately!) was previously used as a retail outlet for heating oil, diesel and lubricants. With plenty of open space, the community rides have been greatly expanded and numerous events and social evenings have taken place.

Community Building

Another inspiration from Australia: early morning bunch rides. For the Pushbikers, rides in large, mixed groups were initially a phenomenon during their racing and training stays on the continent. After the first Pushbikers store was established, efforts began to allow not only their own team riders but also friends and fellow riders to cycle together. Irregularly at first, but with increasing structure since 2022. Since 2023, Pushbikers has had female and male road captains who plan the routes for joint road bike rides and accompany the riders. The community rides currently take place from the Gut Oberkammerloh location in Waakirchen and the Kreissparkasse Miesbach-Tegernsee in Holzkirchen.

Pushbikers MTB

Valuable inspiration from the trails: As an addition to the track and road cycling disciplines, the Maloja Pushbikers MTB was an international professional mountain bike team for two years. Six male and female riders – including Lina Indergand – specialized in cross-country races and the team was successfully positioned in the UCI world rankings.

Continental Team

The German UCI Continental Team Maloja Pushbikers with international races in the UCI Europe Tour. In the first few years in particular, the team became an important development team for young cycling talent from Germany. At races in Europe, Asia and the USA, the Pushbikers caused a stir and achieved success, e.g. with stage wins at the UCI Taiwan Tour. In 2023, the Pushbikers were the second-best German professional team behind bora Hansgrohe with six stage wins and 24 podium finishes in UCI road races.

Colorful anniversary

A long-term partnership is not a matter of course in professional cycling. 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the collaboration with Maloja, which has shaped the Pushbikers in many ways. As a “Maloja test team”, we always rode the Maloja collection for the next season twelve months in advance. New every year, improved every year and highly recognisable.

Pushbikers Gut

After six months of renovation, the time had finally come: Gut Oberkammerloh, we breathe cycling into you! A former cowshed with old cast-iron pillars, in the immediate vicinity of Lake Tegernsee. It’s much more than just a store – it’s the place where everything comes together. Where we meet people in person. Be it for bike fitting, buying a bike, for a coffee, at events or for cycling together. We celebrate cycling as a close connection between competitive sport, the community, young talent, our partners and this wonderful place!
